No pain, no gain
You will experience pain in the week following your surgery. Cosmetic surgery is, in essence, a self-inflicted “wounds,” intended to transform the shape of a particular part of your body. Like any wound, it requires time to heal. There is no way around it, the part of the body you’re getting work done on is going to hurt after surgery.
It’s not that bad, though
The good news is most procedures are simple enough to perform, and the necessary “wounds” are small. Most of the pain stemming from larger procedures, like breast implants and butt lifts, come from bruising, which itself is very tolerable for most people. The pain is easily treated using prescription pain killers.
How long does the pain last?
Most pain, even the pain caused by larger procedures, subsides for most patients after a week or two. After six weeks, the pain is completely gone for nearly all patients. Your wounds have healed. Your body is transformed. After six weeks, you get to see your results. But there’s more to the story
Your body is transformed initially, right after the surgery. But that’s only the beginning. There’s no way around it. The necessary incisions and subsequent bruising that accompanies all cosmetic procedures causes swelling. It’s difficult to see the beauty of your results through the initial swelling. Skin is a funny thing though. It stretches and heals and does truly amazing things. Your skin is very adaptable, and your procedure forces your skin to adapt to a shape you weren’t born with, one your skin isn’t used to, yet. It takes about a year for the real magic to happen. What were at first light scars are now virtually invisible. Your skin has had a chance to adapt to the stretching causes by removing tissue or adding implants.
When the magic happens
The magic happens when your skin gets used to your new shape, and you start to fall in love with yourself. If it’s your first time, you need to be ready.
After six months, you will start to notice you’re turning heads and getting attention. Church, the beach, the mall, the ski slopes, PTA meetings, restaurants, shows, and girls’ night out. Everywhere you go, people notice. No matter where you go, people will notice you if you carry yourself with the confidence that comes from perfecting your body. In the back of your mind, you know your husband loves you more for it. There is nothing superficial about increased confidence. It’s not about changing who you are on the inside. The surgery is a means to an end. It is not an end in itself. It’s a tool you can use to transform yourself into a more confident, energetic, outgoing person who gets noticed by other people. What are other people saying?
But don’t take my word for it. Plenty of people talk about their results from cosmetic surgery. As you read these cosmetic surgery reviews, you’ll hear things as powerful as “My surgeon made me feel like a woman again!” and “My surgeon is my hero!” Now those are powerful results!
